OUR PROGRAM
The Adirondack Day Care Center/Preschool is a not-for-profit corporation for children 3–5 years of age. The Adirondack Day Care Center/Preschool is a New York State Office of Children & Family Services licensed program, which provides children with a fun, safe, challenging, and stimulating environment within a well planned and executed program.

The Adirondack Day Care Center is committed to a philosophy that encourages each child to grow as a unique and capable individual within an integrated challenge. The Adirondack Day Care Center offers a program which provides an opportunity for your child to engage in age-appropriate activities to challenge their cognitive, language, gross motor, fine motor, social and self help skills. Our aim is to heighten each child’s self respect and sense of caring for others. The Adirondack Day Care Center provides a relaxed atmosphere in which children can feel comfortable working both independently and cooperatively with others while being assured of adult support and guidance. Staff serve as guides for growth that is geared to each child’s age, developmental level and life experiences, to give them just the right challenge.

Growth and development are assessed with reference to each child’s individual capacities, strengths and weaknesses. A standardized age-appropriate checklist is used to assess each child and individual goals are set.

Our program is for children 3 to 5 years old. The children participate in a multi-sensory curriculum designed to encourage overall development, self-awareness, self-esteem and continued growth in social skills and activities of daily living. The center is made up of interest centers such as blocks, art, dramatic play, books and language arts/writing, manipulative, water and sand play, science and math. The program is built on a variety of themes, which are child centered and child directed. The teacher’s role is that of a guide, providing opportunities for learning to occur in these areas:

SCHEDULE
Adirondack Day Care Center/Preschool provides enrollment opportunities for children 3–5 years of age. Children are eligible three months prior to their third birthday to enroll in the program, if parent and staff feel the child is ready.

We are open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, January–December. In order to maximize the number of children we are able to serve in the community and in order to maintain consistency for the children who are attending the program, children must be signed up to attend on a regular schedule.

The Board of Directors balance the cost of running a high quality preschool staffed by professional staff, with what parents can afford to pay.

Part-Time (1–3 days per week) — $30 per day
Full-Time (4–5 days per week) — $25 per day
Summer Session (1–5 days per week) — $25 per day

There is a childcare subsidy program offered to parents. The fund is administered by the Essex County Department of Social Services.
If interested please contact 873-3445 or 873-3446. This is money allocated to the State to help defray the cost of childcare. This program will provide area children with a better opportunity to succeed in future educational opportunities.
