Recreation

Our great location on the shores of Lake Champlain in New York's Adirondack Park offers a full range of year-round recreational opportunities. The lake has something for everyone from sunbathing to ice-skating. Boating, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, fishing (on the ice too), and Champ-searching are all popular. Port Henry has more than a mile of publicly accessible shoreline and one of the best boat launching sites on the lake, two marinas, public beaches and municipal campgrounds. Boaters and campers can walk to town for groceries and most restaurants will pick up diners.

Sailboat on Lake Champlain Out of the water, bicycling opportunities abound along the lake's 580 miles of unspoiled shoreline and throughout the Adirondack Park. The area also has some very challenging public golf courses, including a 9-hole course just up the hill from the village and two additional 18-hole courses nearby. Port Henry is conveniently located for backpacking, hiking, and mountain climbing excursions in both New York's Adirondacks and Vermont's Green Mountains. Hunting, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or just relaxing by the fire are all favorite winter activities. There are also opportunities for shopping, antiquing, and dining.
